In the French Provence, following the events of Jean de Florette, “Manon of the springs” tells the story of Manon, Jean de Florette’s daughter.
After the father’s death, Manon of the springs and her mother sold their house to Ugolin, who rushed to unblock the spring and yield a profit from his farm.
Manon spends her holidays with one of the rare individuals who gave her a helping hand during her childhood. When she gets the certainty that it was Ugolin who has blocked the spring, she decides to take revenge.
Like always in Marcel Pagnol’s novels, there’s a strong moral in Manon of the springs, a story which also was a successful movie.
