Topaze by Pagnol tells the story of a naive and honest professor; hired by a corrupted city councilor who wants to use him.
Topaze by Pagnol is a four-act satirical comedy, and the first theatrical success of the playwright.
The play gave birth to three films: the first by Louis Gasnier (1932), with Louis Jouvet, and two of Pagnol himself: in 1936 with Arnaudy, then in 1950 with Fernandel.
The play and the movies inspired from Topaze created a landmark in the French theatre.
